The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence virtual Conference 2023 taking place from 1st to 3rd February at Kabarak University was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Henry Kiplangat who declared the conference officially inaugurated.
This conference is a part of the University's 13th Annual International Research Conference and is focused on the growing area of data science and artificial intelligence. The theme of the conference, "Development, Deployment, and Adoption of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Solutions," showcases the University's commitment to building capacity in this field.
The Vice-Chancellor in his speech informed the attendees that Kabarak University has invested significantly in the past year to develop programs in data science and artificial intelligence, hosting short training events such as boot camps and hackathons, establishing a center for data science and AI, and supporting faculty and students to attend capacity-building events and conferences. The University has also received support from partners such as Google, Artificial Intelligence Journal, and HealthIT.
The keynote speaker of the conference is Professor Ciira Maina, Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Director of the Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAIL), Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, and the Chair of Data Science Africa. The conference also features guest speakers, Dr. Dina Machuve, Co-Founder and CTO of DevData Analytics, Tanzania, and Dr. John Oredo, Senior Lecturer of Information Science, at the University of Nairobi.
