Kabarak University Enterprises invites applications from interested and suitable qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions in the University Enterprises. The University is a Christian institution committed to Christian Biblical principles and values and the successful candidate will be required to uphold this value system.

VACANT POSITIONS:

We are inviting applications for the positions of:

1. Guest House Manager: One (1) Position- KABUE 4 Ref. 27/11/19/1

Person Profile.

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel management or a diploma in hotels management from Kenya Utalii College with required experience in the hotel industry.
  • Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively and be in possession of good interpersonal skills especially in a multicultural and international set up.
  • Demonstrate superior customer care skills and attention to details.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skill and staff management.
  • Demonstrate contemporary knowledge of trends in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be a member of a recognized and influential professional body.
  • Relevant professional qualifications.
  • Must have at least 5 years management experience in a three star hotel.

Job Profile

Reporting to the General Manager, Kabarak University Enterprises Ltd. The successful candidate shall be responsible for general operations and smooth running of Kabarak Guest House &Conference Centre.  The successful candidate shall be responsible for:

  • Managing the guest house as a profitable income generating division of the enterprise.
  • Promote Kabarak University Guest house as a preferred Centre for conferences.
  • Ensuring consistence provision of quality services at the Guest house in rooms division, food and beverages division and fitness centre.
  • All hotel staff, staff schedules, welfare and performance output.
  • Marketing the Guest house services
  • Positioning the Guest house within the legal framework
  • Cost control and management especially in food and beverages.
  • Budget and financial preparations
  • Outside Catering and events management for the Kabarak University
  • Overseeing smooth running of the guest house stores, laundry and rooms division
  • Growth of the Guest house from a 2 star to a 3 star rated hotel.

2. Chief Chef: One (1) Position- KABUE 4 Ref. 27/11/19/2

For appointment into this position, applicants should have the following:

Person Profile.

  • Should be holder of Diploma in Food and Beverage Production or a Certificate in food production from Kenya Utalii College.
  • Should have at least 5 years of work experience in a busy 4-star kitchen with strong food and beverage operations.
  • Demonstrate capacity for continuous production of mass quality food for an international students Community.
  • Should display good leadership qualities, of good character, self-motivated and strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Must have advanced knowledge of culinary arts in baking, pastry and local cuisines.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in menu Planning and capacity to coordinate various departments for delivery of a standard, cost effective, quality and acceptable menus.

Job Profile

Reporting to the General Manager, Kabarak University Enterprises Ltd and shall be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Ensuring the provision of high quality services within all kitchens of the University and University Guest house.
  • Planning, Developing and implementing procedures for efficient and effective provision of catering services.
  • Advising management on the appropriate strategies to improve the catering services for students, staff and other users.
  • Maintain diverse menu and standard food recipes.
  • Implement a menu system which will be easily evaluated by customers
  • Coordinate various departments in order to produce a cost efficient menu for all food outlets.
  • Corporate hospitality, large event catering and outside catering.
  • Safeguard the kitchens and service equipment, crockery, cutlery and service machines for smooth running of all kitchens in the university.
  • Prepare and present accurate, reliable, precise and timely foods and beverages reports for effective decision making.
  • Persons with HACCP certification, international cuisine experience and knowledge, in addition to above requirements will have an added advantage

3. Food and Beverage Supervisor: One (1) Position-KABUE 5 Ref. 27/11/19/3

For appointment into this position, applicants should:

Person Profile.

  • Should be holders of first degree in hotel and institution management.
  • Should have at least 5 years of work experience in a food and beverage supervisory position in a three star restaurant.
  • Demonstrate good leadership qualities, of good character, self-motivated and strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate practical, strong, food and beverage service skills with high customer care and business acumen.

Job Profile

Reporting to the General Manager, Kabarak University Enterprises Ltd, successful candidate shall be responsible for the following key areas:

  • To effectively and efficiently supervise Food and Beverage service and kitchen staff n production and service of food and beverages.
  • Safeguard the enterprises service equipment, crockery, cutlery and service machines.
  • Prepare and present accurate, reliable, precise and timely foods and beverages reports for effective decision making.
  • Forecast and detect critical issues in the foods and beverages framework of the company and take appropriate actions in order to mitigate associated risk or take advantage of a possible opportunity existing.
  • Liaise with the Chef for Menu Planning, food and beverages management and service.
  • Liaise constantly with customers for their feedback on food and beverages products.
  • Ensure target sales are met as per periodic set targets.
  • Professionalism by other food and beverage brigade.
  • Supervise and coordinate Large University, events conferences and outside catering for corporate and social events.
  • To ensure that profit margins are maintained, agreed cost are not exceeded through effective control system, sales analysis, menu costing and effective use of available resources.
  • to coordinate food and beverages department periodical forecast, budgets and business plan for food and beverage department (kitchen and restaurants)

4. Cooks:  Five (5) Positions – KABUE 7 Ref. 27/11/19/4

For appointment into this position, applicants should have the following:

Person Profile.

  • Should be at least a KCSE Certificate Holder with minimum C-.
  • Should have a Certificate in food production preferably from Kenya Utalii College.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a catering department of a busy institution or a large Kitchen.
  • Should Posses excellent knowledge of food production and menu planning.
  • Should display good leadership qualities; be of good character and able to work under minimum supervision in a very busy kitchen.
  • Should be innovative in culinary art and in general of menu presentation.
  • Demonstrate understanding of HACCP standards.

Job Profile

Reporting to the chief chef and shall be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Carrying out procedures for efficient and effective provision of catering services as predefined by the management.
  • Preparation of quality food that meets the clients standards.
  • Maintaining order and the general cleanliness status of the Kitchen
  • Corporate hospitality and events catering.
  • self hygiene and general kitchen and food handling hygiene
  • Production of a variety of meals, Beverages, soups, sauces and salads for all cultures.
  • Production of international dishes from time to time.

5. Waiters/Waitress:  five (5) Positions – KABUE 8 Ref. 27/11/19/5

For appointment into this position, applicants should have the following:

Person Profile.

  • Should be at least a KCSE Certificate with a mean grade of D+.
  • Should have a Certificate in food production and service preferably from Kenya Utalii College
  • Active individual with good public relations.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  •  Experience of 3 year in a busy Restaurant.
  • Above 25 years.

Job Profile

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Supervisor and shall be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Welcomes customers when they arrive at the restaurant
  • Arrange and prepares food and drinks in a proper and hygienic manner
  • Prepare and organise the restaurant for service.
  • Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables.
  • Maintains familiarity with menu items and canteen information.
  • Always maintain good hygiene and personal cleanliness.
  • Should have the ability to identify report and correct hazards.
  • Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is done in a manner, which enhances the safety of the work environment.

5. Food and beverages controller one (1) Positions – KABUE 8 Ref. 27/11/19/6

For appointment into this position, applicants should have the following:

Person Profile.

  • An organised and composed food and beverage controller
  • demonstrate capacity for complex numerous calculations of item cost
  • have very high sense of details and attention to market price fluctuation
  • demonstrate understanding of menu planning, food cost and pricing techniques
  • Above 30 years with an experience of atleast 5 years in a 3 star hotel.

Job Profile.

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Supervisor and shall be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Daily food cost reports for all food and beverage outlets.
  • Preparation of purchase orders in liaison with the procurement clerks.
  • To participate in food and beverages receiving, storing and issuing from food and beverage stores.
  • Note delivery prices of all products and ensure selling prices are in line with delivery cost of goods.
  • Advise the chef and food and beverages supervisors on the trends of food cost and profitability margins on a daily basis.

REMUNERATION AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Appointments to the positions will be on a Three years contract, renewable on mutual agreement with a six month probation period upon appointment. A competitive compensation package will be offered to successful candidates. Kabarak University Enterprises Ltd is an equal opportunity employer.
