The Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) is inspiring a new generation of leaders in Africa through transformative programs. On 25th October 2025, the Africa Youth Leadership Forum Kabarak University Chapter (Main Campus and Nakuru City Campus) had the privilege of attending the 3rd Leadership Summit held at Mount Kenya University’s Main Campus in Thika. This year’s theme was “Building a New Africa for the 21st Century,” and the keynote speaker was the respected lawyer, Prof. PLO Lumumba.
Through an inspiring presentation, he encouraged participants to have faith in their continent. He called for action, urging the youth to rise up and do what is right in order to make the continent a better place to live and prosper. He challenged the emerging leaders to make a positive impact starting from their immediate environments. He emphasized his point by quoting Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can’t fly, then run; if you can’t run, then walk; if you can’t walk, then crawl; but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
The participants gained further leadership insights through resourceful panel discussions and presentations from other keynote speakers. The AYLF’s county director, in his presentation, highlighted the importance of honesty in leadership. He pointed out that leaders need to be truthful to themselves and to those they serve, because honesty not only earns loyalty but also “builds bridges rather than walls.”

As the day came to a close, the participants were empowered with valuable knowledge to nurture their leadership skills, with the aim of making Africa a better continent.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the entire University Management Board (UMB) for their unwavering support in making the 3rd Leadership Summit a success. Your guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in empowering our students and fostering a culture of leadership excellence at Kabarak University.
Thank you for your continuous commitment to the development of transformative leaders.
