All counseling services operate under the Dean of Students Department, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and student welfare structures.
Peer Counseling Programme
Kabarak University has a vibrant and well-trained team of Peer Counselors who play a critical role in student support. The peer counselors:
- Provide first-level support to fellow students
- Offer a relatable understanding of student challenges
- Act as a bridge by referring students who require specialized support to professional counselors
Peer counselors are trained in counseling theories and basic counseling skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the application of professional ethics in practice. Their training also covers career guidance, emerging issues affecting students, personal growth and behavior change, as well as crisis intervention, equipping them to provide informed, ethical, and responsive support to their peers.
They are accessible across the University community, including lecture halls, hostels, and non-residential areas. To enhance visibility and approachability, peer counselors wear branded blue T-shirts every Thursday.
