The Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (DELT) is an Academic office, responsible for training academic staff on the best practices of Teaching & Learning in line with Kabarak University’s Vision of becoming a ‘Centre of Academic Excellence founded on Biblical Christian Values.’
DELT is headed by Prof. Gladys Jerobon Kiptiony, a management appointee who works closely with the Academic & Research Divisions, Quality Assurance and ICT respectively.
Prof. Kiptiony is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Counselling Psychology) degree from Egerton University, Masters in Education from Lancaster University-UK and a Bachelor of Education from Moi University, Kenya.
Prof. Kiptiony previously served as Dean, School of Education at Kabarak University. It is in this position that she became cognizant of the existing needs of students and teaching staff who continued to use old teaching methodologies despite the dynamic changes in the industry.
The industry is looking out for employees who can critically think, work in teams, bring solutions to problems, take initiative, effectively communicate, innovative and able to embrace technology among other attributes. These attributes, can only be acquired through a student-centered approach to learning. It is for this reason that DELT trains lecturers in Pedagogical skills, how to be innovative and keep up with emerging Technology in Teaching and Learning.
