Kabarak University’s Vision is to become a center of academic excellence founded on Biblical Christian Values with one of our core values being Excellence and Professionalism. To enhance these values, the Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching has been able to train students and lecturers on best practices in the requirements of the 21st Century, Pedagogy, Teaching, and Assessment.
The Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching (DELT) holds training every semester for new members of academic staff. This semester the training has been running from the 17th to the 19th of October at Kabarak Online.
A wide range of topics was presented to the trainees including; Examination Malpractices; Detection, prevention, evidence collection presented by the Registrar Academics and Research Dr. Antony Somba, The DELT director Prof. Gladys kiptiony shared her presentation on Effective Instruction in Higher Education: The case of Flipped Class, The Ag director DELT Prof. Fredrick Ngala presented on The Effective Teacher in Higher Education, Dr. Edwin Akumu, Director Quality Assurance & Institutional Advancement presented on Quality Assurance in Teaching and Learning: Procedures and Preparation of key documents such as course outlines, Analysis of class attendance and keying in of results, Mr. Benjamia Mbatia, Lecturer in the school of music and Media presented on Using the Moodle platform for effective teaching and assessment, Dr. Pamela Kimeto, Dean School of Medicine and Health sciences had two presentations on Ethical issues in Teaching in Higher Education and Examination invigilation: malpractices and effective strategies., Dr. Elkana Choboi, lecturer school of School of Education & Director Music Performance presented on Integration of Faith and Learning.
The training was very interactive in line with the objection of the training. The trainees were excited all through the sessions and it’s the expectation of the Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching that they will implement the 21st century skills in their teaching and learning.
