Kabarak University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, recently joined a delegation of 13 Vice-Chancellors on a transformative trip to South Africa aimed at strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization in higher education.
The visit was part of the Network of Entrepreneurial Institutions Leaders (NEIL), an initiative led by Dr. Tonny Omwansa, CEO of the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA). NEIL brings together university leaders to share strategies, best practices, and collaborative opportunities that turn academic research into real-world impact.
Over the past several months, participating universities have engaged in Entrepreneurial Leadership training, guided by the Entrepreneurial Institution Maturity Framework. This framework helps universities strengthen leadership, policy, infrastructure, funding, and international collaborations to build vibrant innovation ecosystems.

The university is creating opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers to translate ideas into practical solutions, start ventures, and contribute to national and regional development.
Through collaborations with partners such as KeNIA, the British Council, and South African universities, Kabarak University is positioning itself as a hub for entrepreneurial leadership, innovation, and knowledge exchange in Africa.
This engagement highlights the university’s broader vision: to empower its community to lead, innovate, and create impact well beyond the classroom.
