Kabarak University, in Partnership with KCB Foundation, Equips Faculty for Entrepreneurial Impact through SIYB Training

Kabarak University has taken a bold and transformative step towards shaping Kenya’s entrepreneurial future through the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) training program. Held during the week of July 14–18, 2025, the intensive training equipped 19 faculty members from the School of Business and Economics with globally recognized skills in enterprise development and business consultancy.

In his closing address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat applauded the faculty for their commitment and professionalism, noting that this marks a pioneering milestone. “This is the first time our School is positioning itself as a certified provider of entrepreneurial training, aligned with global standards through the SIYB model developed by the International Labour Organization,” he said.

The training was facilitated in partnership with the Institute of Certified SIYB Trainers (ICST Enterprise Developers) and supported by the KCB Foundation—two institutions the Vice-Chancellor hailed for their strategic collaboration. Prof. Kiplangat highlighted that the certification positions the University to participate in national programs such as KCB Foundation’s entrepreneurship initiatives, demonstrating how purposeful partnerships can lead to institutional recognition.

As the University prepares for the second phase of training scheduled for August, Prof. Kiplangat encouraged participants to uphold excellence and integrity. “We must now be known for quality, for reliability, and for consistently exceeding expectations,” he challenged.

Looking ahead, Kabarak University envisions establishing a Business Advisory and Enterprise Development Centre, a hub for consultancy, mentorship, and innovation that will further embed the institution’s commitment to holistic and transformative education.

With this foundational training complete, Kabarak University is firmly on the path to becoming a national leader in entrepreneurship development, transforming not just businesses but lives.
