Kabarak University Delegation Visits University of Venda to Strengthen Academic and Cultural Collaboration

A delegation from Kabarak University is currently undertaking an official visit to the University of Venda in South Africa, marking an important milestone in strengthening academic partnerships and promoting cultural collaboration between the two institutions.

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the Maphapuli Royal Council, emphasising the significance of collaboration between institutions of higher learning and traditional leadership in advancing cultural preservation and academic research.

The engagement is focused on strengthening international cooperation in areas of research, knowledge exchange, and cultural heritage studies. A key highlight of the discussions is the progress toward establishing the African Musicology Institute, an initiative aimed at preserving, researching, and celebrating Africa’s rich musical traditions while fostering scholarly collaboration across the continent.

The proposed institute is expected to serve as a hub for research and documentation of African musical heritage, bringing together scholars, cultural practitioners, and students to explore the diverse musical traditions that shape African identity and history. The initiative also aims to promote cross-cultural learning and strengthen academic networks among African universities.

The visit is part of Kabarak University’s commitment to expanding its global partnerships and enhancing its international presence through strategic collaborations with institutions across Africa and beyond.

Through such partnerships, Kabarak University seeks to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of African scholarship while promoting the preservation and appreciation of the continent’s cultural heritage. The collaboration with the University of Venda, therefore, represents an important step toward building strong academic networks that support innovation, cultural preservation, and shared knowledge for the benefit of future generations.
