Kabarak University officially commenced its 2026 Annual Staff Seminar and Team Building today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026. This three-day event serves as a cornerstone for institutional growth, bringing together staff from all departments to reflect on their mission and sharpen the skills necessary for the evolving landscape of higher education.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, PhD, MBS, OGW, officially opened the seminar at the University Auditorium. In his opening address, he emphasized that this year’s theme, Empowering excellence, leading transformative change in education, the workplace, and in life itself, is a direct reflection of the University's commitment to its stewards and ambassadors.

Prof. Kiplangat highlighted the university's recent milestones, including top honours at the Kenya Quality Awards and the East African Community Regional Quality Awards, noting that such excellence is never accidental but a deliberate choice.
The first day featured a high-impact morning agenda focused on professional and personal growth:
- Driving Quality & Excellence: Dr. Sultan Amri from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) led a deep dive into moving beyond mere efficiency to creating real impact. His session challenged staff to adopt a mindset of continuous improvement to sustain the University's competitive edge.

- Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in the Workplace: Ms. Vicky Karuga of Profiles International facilitated a session on "Empowering a Productive and Compassionate Workplace." She highlighted how EQ is a vital tool for modern leadership, fostering a culture of empathy and resilience.
The afternoon session featured the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, who presented on "Modern Leadership in Action: Inspiring People, Purpose, and Performance." His presentation focused on leading with integrity and self-awareness, urging staff to be "coaches" to their teams and to set standards that align with the University’s biblical Christian values.
The day concluded with a series of short presentations from our valued service providers and partners. With over 34 partners present, including Liaison Group, Octagon Africa, Transnep Insurance Brokers, and various banking and health institutions, staff had the opportunity to engage directly with industry experts. These partners have pitched tents at the University Field to provide information on financial planning, health wellness, and insurance products throughout the event.

The seminar continues tomorrow with sessions focused on Professional Ethics, CBC Readiness, and the impact of Artificial Intelligence in education. The three-day event will culminate this Thursday, April 30, with a dedicated Team Building day at the University Field, featuring a wellness walk, aerobics, and competitive games.
