Vice-Chancellor Officially Receives Trophies and Awards from the Monumental Triumph at the 97th Kenya National Music Festival

Kabarak University is still basking in the glow of its spectacular performance at the 97th Kenya National Music Festival (KMF) 2025, where the team secured an impressive 23 First-Place victories, along with 11 Second-Place and 8 Third-Place honours.

The ultimate celebration and recognition of this achievement took place today during the weekly Wednesday Chapel service, where the Vice-Chancellor officially received the haul of trophies and awards.

The chapel service was a moment of profound pride, with the entire university community celebrating the artistic triumph that placed Kabarak at the national forefront of creative expression. The Vice-Chancellor, in his address, warmly congratulated the combined team—including the University and Chapel Choir, the School of Music and Media Orchestra, the Elocution team, and the Dancers.

He lauded the students for their commitment to excellence and for successfully embodying the festival's 2025 theme: "Enhancing the Creative Economy through Artistic Expression for Sustainable Development". The VC noted that their success was a powerful testament to the university’s mission of providing quality education in a biblical perspective, which encourages students to utilize their God-given talents for the service of God and humanity.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the trophies to the Vice-Chancellor by the Dean, School of Music and Media, Dr. Michael Ndonye. While celebrating the victory, the Dean seized the moment to issue a visionary and challenging promise to the team for the next competition.

Expressing deep optimism in the team's potential, the Dean challenged the Choir and the entire performing arts contingent to not just win more trophies, but to aim for the Overall Position 1 at the Kenya National Music Festival in 2026.

The Dean's challenge reflects a belief that the current achievements are merely a stepping stone. With their established talent base and the demonstrated capacity to dominate individual categories, the Dean is confident that the Kabarak University team possesses the drive and skill necessary to claim the coveted overall title next year. This bold statement sets an ambitious goal for the team and further solidifies the School of Music and Media's commitment to nurturing world-class talent.

The university looks forward to supporting its artistic ambassadors as they begin preparations to meet this exciting, new challenge for the 2026 festival.
