“We are the best there is”… School of Medicine and Health Sciences Annual Pinning ceremony

"Time and Health are two precious assets that we don't appreciate until they are depleted “. These words by Dennis Waitley took account as Kabarak University held its 5th annual Pinning, Candle lighting, and Graduands Dedication Ceremony to celebrate the Medical and Health Sciences graduands and welcome them into the profession.

Present were the Vice - Chancellor Professor Henry K. Kiplangat, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Ronal Chepkilot, the provost Rev. Prof. Jacob Kibor, Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Pamela Kimeto Ting'ei and the HODs of Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Family Medicine and Public Health departments and the graduands

Dr. Gulnaz Mohamoud from Aga Khan Hospital in attendance advised the health practitioners to have compassion and make an impact in their work.  The Kenyan Nurse an International Consultant for nurses in Kenya was represented by the CEO Ms. Terry Nekasa who spoke highly of the partnership with the Nursing department of this great institution of higher learning, she stated that the partnership is working towards training competent nurses working in the local and international market guaranteeing the incoming professionals open market in the nursing field.

Our Vice-Chancellor Professor Henry K. Kiplangat gave remarkable words to the graduands and encouraged them to have resilience, positivity, integrity, kindness and purposing do their job right. He advised the graduands to be good ambassadors of the University for it is renowned for being the best institution over the years and it’s only getting better and better day by day.

The Class Representatives of the different medical departments gave thrilling speeches as they described their four-five year of study in Kabarak. Some were emotional and moving describing the journey as being God-led.

Each student was pinned a pin indicating the department they belong to and immediately after they took the oath of serving right in their docket.

The nursing students lit candles when taking their oaths. The graduands thereafter lit candles of the first year’s nursing Department student representatives as a sign passing on the baton of continuity of success.

Awarding of certificates and gifts for the management, outstanding students, visitors and members of faculty followed up before the cake was cut which marked the end of the annual pinning ceremony of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
