School of Music and Media Welcomes Media Council of Kenya for a Knowledge-Sharing Session with Mass Communication Students

Kabarak University's School of Music and Media, known for its excellence in producing competent professionals, recently had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests from the Media Council of Kenya (MCK). Led by Mecha Joseph, the Media Council of Kenya Nakuru Region Coordinator, the delegation included Ms. Angel Wanjala a finalist student currently working with MCK, and Joan Kittony, their administrative assistant. The purpose of their visit was to enlighten and inspire the media students at Kabarak University on journalists' accreditation, the journalist's code of conduct, and the life of a journalist, and to answer questions on careers in journalism.

The existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Kabarak University and the Media Council of Kenya has proven to be a harmonious partnership, fostering a positive environment for the growth and development of aspiring journalists. The collaboration aims to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and ethical values required to become exceptional journalists. The association between these esteemed institutions of higher learning underscores the commitment to nurturing talent and producing some of the best journalists in Kenya.

The visit of the MCK delegation to Kabarak University was marked by an engaging session with the students of the media department. Mecha Joseph, the Nakuru Region Coordinator of the Media Council of Kenya, delivered an insightful presentation on journalists' accreditation and emphasized the importance of adhering to the journalist's code of conduct. Through real-life examples and anecdotes, he vividly explained the challenges and responsibilities faced by journalists in today's media landscape.

They discussed the various roles and responsibilities undertaken by journalists and shed light on the exciting opportunities that await aspiring journalists in the field.
