Kabarak University continues to position itself as a leader in innovation and technological advancement, with its Business Incubation Coordinator, Dr. Andrew Kipkebut, contributing to critical conversations on agricultural transformation at GITEX AFRICA. This premier technology event, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from April 14-16, 2025, brings together global experts to explore cutting-edge solutions in AI, Agritech, and sustainable food systems.
Dr. Kipkebut emphasizes the need to enhance food security in Kenya by integrating advanced technology into farming practices. He highlights the role of IoT sensors and machine learning in soil testing, enabling farmers to make informed decisions that optimize crop selection and productivity. “In Kenya, we do a lot of farming, and we want to find a way to enhance these farming practices by improving food security. For example, by testing the soil using IoT sensors and machine learning, farmers can make the right decisions to grow crops tailored toward increasing food productivity and enhancing their daily activities,” he explains.
Beyond technological advancements, Dr. Kipkebut stresses the importance of collaboration and investment in agritech startups. “We are looking for collaborators and funders who can support our startups so that we can take them to the next level,” he adds. His call for partnerships aligns with Kabarak University’s commitment to fostering innovation and providing practical solutions for real-world agricultural challenges.
At GITEX AFRICA, thought leaders, innovators, and industry stakeholders will examine how AI-driven insights, climate-adaptive farming techniques, and sustainable agricultural practices are shaping the future of food production.
