Kabarak University convened the Association of Academic Registrars of Universities in Kenya (AARUK) Sensitization Workshop on Thursday 25th July 2024. Under the stewardship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Henry K. Kiplangat, also the AARUK Patron, the two-day event centered on the theme "Navigating the Future: A Platform for Innovative Practices, Challenges and Opportunities in the Rapidly Evolving Landscape of University Administration." The workshop aimed to equip academic registrars with the necessary tools and knowledge to address the dynamic challenges confronting higher education institutions.
Key sessions covered a spectrum of critical topics. The CEO of the Universities Fund provided insights into the implementation of the new funding model, while the CEO of the Higher Education Loans Board addressed HELB matters. The CEO of KUCCPS offered perspectives on placement processes, and Professor Fred Ngala delved into Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET). Legal frameworks governing academic services were explored by Ms. Rahab Wakuraya, while Professor Simon Karume illuminated the potential of digital transformation, data analytics, and artificial intelligence in higher education. Quality assurance and academic integrity were focal points addressed by Professor Maurice Okoth, and Professor Ken Otieno provided valuable insights on stress management for attendees.
The workshop served as a platform for robust discussions, knowledge exchange, and networking among academic registrars, fostering collaboration and enhancing their capacity to lead in the evolving higher education landscape.
