The runway is no place for the faint-hearted. It demands confidence, poise, and the ability to turn heads with every step. But for Miss Magdaline Takangiro, the current Miss Kabarak, the runway is more than a stage—it’s a battlefield where dreams are fought for and won. Right now, she is conquering Milan, striding across some of the world’s most prestigious fashion runways with the same passion she once had for textbooks and clinical rounds.
From the moment she first slipped into the world of modeling in 2021 as a fresh-faced first-year student at Kabarak University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Takangiro knew she was running toward something greater. She faced rejection not once, not twice, but three times. Yet, like any great story, perseverance turned her setbacks into stepping stones. In 2024, during her final year as a clinical medicine student, she was crowned Miss Kabarak, a title that became the launchpad for her meteoric rise.
Miss Kabarak was just the beginning. Armed with newfound confidence, she dared to dream bigger, stepping onto the national stage for Miss Universe Kenya. Out of countless contestants, she sprinted into the top seven, proving that her name belonged among Kenya’s finest. But the real game-changer came the morning after the competition, when Madam Joan Okurududu, CEO of Isis Models Africa, called her with an offer that would change her life. Signing with Isis Models was the golden ticket, and soon after, Takangiro placed as the 4th runner-up in Africa’s Next Supermodel, opening the doors to a global runway career.
Now, the girl who once walked through the halls of Kabarak University in a white coat is gracing Milan Fashion Week, signed with Wave Management in Milan and One Management in New York, London, and Spain.
From the well-rounded mentorship to a supportive community that encourages students to chase their dreams, Kabarak University has been a cornerstone of her journey. The same unwavering support that propelled Takangiro onto the world stage is available to every student with the courage to dream beyond the classroom. Whether in sports, arts, technology, or business, Kabarak remains a launchpad for excellence.
It’s a full-circle moment for a young woman who saw an opportunity, locked her eyes on it, and ran towards it with every ounce of passion inside her. As she struts down the catwalks of the fashion capital, one thing is clear—Magdaline Takangiro isn’t just walking; she’s soaring. And the world is watching.
