Your vote, your choice, choose peace
Our country is heading into the elections next week and as we break for the elections on August 9th, it is important to keep in mind a few things. Our national anthem reminds us to dwell in unity, peace, and liberty. Unity because we are one nation, one people, one identity that is Kenya, we are all Kenyans. Peace because how else do we coexist? how will our children and future generations live if we do not give them peace? How else will we live better together if not peacefully? Liberty because each one of us is given a chance to decide, independence, and freedom to exercise our rights without judgments and interference.
On Tuesday, remember that you have the power to make a difference through your vote, the power to give someone a chance to make a difference so go out and make a choice and let others make their choices without interference. Everyone’s choice will be different but at the end of the day, we all get a chance to make a choice. We also have to accept the outcomes, that sometimes our choices don’t reflect everyone’s choices and that is okay after all we are still all Kenyans.
As we go vote, remember elections come and go but our connections last a while longer, so be kind and let us be mindful of our speech, above all be peace ambassadors. Endeavor to unite and not divide, do not let our political differences stop us from enjoying the connections we have built with those around us. We still need each one of us to build this nation together.
Go vote, go make a choice and above all choose peace.
