Kabarak University wishes to inform students, faculty, researchers, and professionals of an exciting international training opportunity organized by Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in collaboration with the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
The training is offered under the TNE Wagon2Africa Project and will take the form of an Advanced Skills Course on Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biomaterials for the Green Transition, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 16th to 20th February 2026.
Course Overview
The course aims to equip young talents and professionals with advanced knowledge and practical skills to promote:
- Sustainable biofuel production
- Climate-resilient agricultural and energy systems in Africa
- Soil recovery and carbon-neutral or carbon-negative biofuels
- Utilization of marginal and degraded lands
- Integration of biomass, waste valorisation, and circular bioeconomy approaches
The programme will include expert-led lectures, interactive discussions, and a workshop featuring international panelists.
Target Group
The course is designed for:
- Postgraduate students
- University and research institute staff
- Professionals working in public or private organizations
Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum of B2 level, as the course will be conducted in English.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be citizens and residents of eligible African countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Somalia, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Sudan, and Mauritius
- Meet the academic and professional requirements outlined in the call for applications
Scholarships
- 50 participants will be selected in total
- Up to 40 scholarships are available and will cover travel and accommodation costs
- 10 non-grant places are reserved for participants from JKUAT
- Specific conditions apply for Kenyan applicants, particularly regarding distance from Nairobi
