Competency in Research, Science and Innovation for Sustainable Development

The KUPPRAC team through Research Innovation and Outreach (RIO) at Kabarak University presented two papers during the 11th Annual International Conference at Eldoret National Polytechnic. The conference themed “Competency in Research, Sciences and Innovation for Sustainable Development” attracted participants from Academia, Government, and the International sector to bring together ideas for sustainable development.

The conference themed “Competency in Research, Sciences and Innovation for Sustainable Development” attracted participants from Academia, Government, and the International sector to bring together ideas for sustainable development. The Keynote Speaker was Prof. Said H. Mbaga from Tanzania, who examined the opportunities and challenges of Poultry Farming for Food Security. Based on his presentation, investing in Agriculture is central to Africa’s economic development and transition to Food Security.

The KUPPRAC members, Kevin Amubi and Wycliffe Cheruiyot, presented a paper titled “Transforming the Economy through Funding TVET institutions”. The paper which was submitted under the Business and Economics Track emphasized the importance of Funding TVET to increase organizational capacity, promote access and equity to TVET, and improve learners’ engagement with stakeholders. The second paper from KUPPRAC was “The Socia-Economic Effect of Maternal Health during the COVID-19 era”, the authors were by Kelvin Nderitu and Lilian Ngina. The second paper was submitted under Applied health and science for sustainable development, the authors examined the need to strengthen maternal health and counseling services accessibility to mothers. The KUPPRAC team at Eldoret National Polytechnic was accompanied by Ms. Faith Yator (Coordinator -Outreach and Linkages, Kabarak University). The conference was halted on Thursday 6th October 2022 after a keynote presentation by Prof. Eng. Simiyu Sitati on Collaborations in Research and Engineering for Sustainable Development.
