Kabarak University continues to shine on the global innovation stage as two of its students, Margaret W. Njonjo and Jotham M. Mwangi, have been selected to represent Kenya in the prestigious AGEA Start-up Class 2025, set to take place in Leipzig, Germany this September.
Their innovative project, RespiraMate, caught the attention of the Africa-Germany Entrepreneurship Academy (AGEA), positioning them among only two Kenyan start-up teams selected for this year’s cohort.
RespiraMate is a health-focused innovation by the Kabarak University duo that aims to provide affordable, accessible, and intelligent respiratory health monitoring solutions. Their concept stood out for its relevance, technical feasibility, and potential for global scalability, especially in underserved regions.
These students exemplify Kabarak University's core values of innovation, integrity, and professionalism, and they are a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing transformative ideas grounded in Biblical Christian values.
The AGEA Start-up Class, hosted in Leipzig under the ACCESS 2.0 initiative and supported by DAAD and the University of Leipzig, is a platform that connects African student innovators with German academic, research, and entrepreneurship ecosystems. Over the course of the program, participants will benefit from:
- Professional coaching and mentorship.
- Entrepreneurship masterclasses.
- Market exposure and international networking opportunities.
Margaret and Jotham are not only representing Kabarak University but also flying the Kenyan flag high in Europe. As they prepare to travel in September, they will undergo additional mentorship and receive support from the ACCESS Kenya coordination team and their home university.
“This is a proud moment for Kabarak. We are not only equipping our students academically but also preparing them to be global changemakers,” said the ACCESS Kenya Coordinator.
We look forward to sharing more about their journey in Leipzig and celebrating their success as they embody the entrepreneurial spirit that drives Kabarak University forward.
