The Official Opening of The Central Rift Innovation Week at The Kabarak University Auditorium Hall

Kabarak University in line with its core mandate in teaching, conducting research and reaching out to the community evidently dedicated four days in the academic calendar to host the Central Rift Innovation Week to show how seriously we take issues pertaining research and innovation.

Day three of the Central Rift Innovation Week attracted great men of this country, The Deputy governor Nakuru county and the Principal Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology. They who paid a courtesy call to the vice chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat in his boardroom before proceeding to the venue.

The vice chancellor set off the presentations by giving his speech. He mentioned that the Central Rift Innovation Week event is a reflection of Kabarak University’s efforts that has resulted in the establishment of research laboratories, the Kabarak University Press which has started publishing the University research outputs, academic books and peer reviewed journals. He further stated that the event provides a platform for Kabarak University to launch our Five-Stage Commercialization Journey Model that is; conception, prototyping, protection, incubation and commercialization.

The Guest Speaker, Hon. David Kipkemoi Kones, Deputy Governor, Nakuru County congratulated Kabarak university in involving the county government in this great course of innovative ideas of building a strong economy. He stated that Nakuru county has a role to play in Setting money aside on research, creating innovation centers in all the 11 sub counties, engaging researchers and consultants and ensuring full and timely Implementation of findings from the research.

The Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, Dr. Tony Omwansa, Chief Executive Officer, Kenya National Innovation Agency virtually gave, his keynote address titled enabling innovation for social-economic development.

After the presentations the Deputy governor went round the exhibitions accompanied the deputy vice-chancellor prof. Ronald Chepkilot. They were really impressed by the innovations and particular one innovation targeting hunger issue which is actually a current state of the nation. At the exhibition stall he mentioned that he was really impressed and moved by what the innovative Kabarak students are doing.

The event runs until the 4th of November and Kabarak University keep its gate wide open to innovators and researchers to come and be part of this great course that the university over years has invested in. Kabarak University has taken great measures in the development of well-thought-out policies, requisite human resource and facilities, and research funds and is willing to do everything there-is to make Kabarak a center of excellence in teaching, research and community outreach.
