Kabarak University welcomed a team from the Clinical Officers Council (COC), Kenya, for a surveillance and compliance inspection of its Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine and Community Health programme. The visit formed part of the Council's regular quality assurance process for institutions offering clinical medicine training.

The inspection team paid a courtesy call to the University Management and was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, together with the Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Prof. Pamela Kimeto, Dr. Shadrack Bett, and the Acting Head of the Department of Clinical Medicine, Mr. Atanas Malik. Their discussions focused on the University's continued efforts to provide high-quality training that meets professional standards.

During the inspection, the team reviewed key areas of the programme, including teaching and learning, laboratory facilities, infrastructure, staffing, curriculum delivery, and compliance with the requirements set by the Clinical Officers Council. The exercise is carried out regularly to ensure institutions continue to maintain the standards required to train future clinical officers.

At the preliminary exit meeting, the inspection team commended Kabarak University for the quality of its Clinical Medicine programme. They noted the strength of the teaching and learning environment, the availability of the facilities needed to support student training, and the Department's commitment to maintaining high academic and professional standards. The team also acknowledged the Department's continued focus on producing graduates who are well prepared for clinical practice.

The positive outcome of the inspection adds to the growing confidence in Kabarak University's Clinical Medicine programme and its role in preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals for Kenya and the wider region.
