On Thursday, 23rd July 2026, Kabarak University welcomed a team from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) for a routine quality inspection of its nursing programme. The exercise formed part of the Council's quality assurance process to assess the University's capacity to deliver nursing education in line with national standards.

The inspection team, led by Dr Ann Mukuna, Head of Standards and Compliance at the Nursing Council of Kenya, was received by members of the University Management Board, alongside the Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and faculty from the Department of Nursing.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Research, Prof. John Ochola, welcomed the delegation and thanked the Council for its continued partnership in promoting quality nursing education. He noted that such inspections provide an opportunity for institutions to review their programmes, strengthen areas where needed, and ensure students receive the best possible training.

During the inspection, the team assessed the University's capacity to deliver the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme. The review covered the nursing skills laboratories, faculty capacity, teaching and learning facilities, clinical placement arrangements, academic records, and other areas that support the delivery of the programme. The inspectors also met with members of staff and students to gain a broader understanding of the learning environment.

The visit reflected the shared goal of ensuring that nursing graduates are equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional values expected of healthcare practitioners. It also highlighted the importance of continuous quality assurance in maintaining strong academic programmes.
