There was already movement at Kabarak University before most of Nakuru City had woken up this morning.

As early as 5:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, 1 September 2026, students began arriving at the University, many accompanied by parents and guardians, marking the start of the September 2026 intake.

Suitcases, admission documents, new faces and plenty of questions have been part of the early morning scene as new students make their way to campus to begin a new chapter of their lives.

For some, this is the first time setting foot at Kabarak. For others, the familiar campus is once again becoming home after the long break.

Registration of new students is taking place from 1 to 4 September 2026, with continuing students expected to report on 4 September.

Classes for continuing students will begin on 7 September, while new students will begin classes on 11 September, following their orientation programme from 7 to 10 September.

The orientation period will give the new students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the University, meet fellow students and lecturers, understand the academic environment and settle into campus life before classes begin.

But for many families arriving today, the journey has already started.

A parent helping a son or daughter carry luggage into the hostels. A guardian checking admission documents one more time. A first-year student quietly taking in the campus surroundings. These are the small moments that make an opening day feel different.

Kabarak University admits students at three points in the academic year for Self-Sponsored Programmes (SSP) and Short Courses:

• September: The main intake, which also caters for government-sponsored students and other programmes.
• January
• May

This gives prospective students different opportunities to join the University depending on the programme and admission cycle.

The campus will become even busier over the coming days as more students arrive, complete registration and settle into their new routines.

For new students, the first morning may bring a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Where is the lecture hall? How does registration work? Who will be in my class? What will campus life be like?

Those questions will soon have answers.
