Kabarak University recently had the privilege of participating in the Windle International Kenya (WIK) Career Clinics held at the Kakuma-Kalobeyei Refugee Settlement—a transformative event dedicated to empowering secondary school students with academic and career guidance. As an institution committed to fostering holistic education and community development, we were honoured to contribute to this noble initiative.
At Kabarak University, our mission extends beyond academics; we strive to nurture leaders grounded in integrity, faith, and service. Guided by our moral code—“to set apart in one’s heart, Jesus as Lord” (1 Peter 3:15)—we embraced the opportunity to inspire young minds in Kakuma-Kalobeyei. This event aligns with our vision to empower marginalized communities through quality education and mentorship.
Representing the university was Dr. Antony Somba, Registrar (Academic and Research), whose expertise and passion for education enriched the clinics. Dr. Somba engaged students through interactive workshops, career talks, and one-on-one mentoring sessions. He emphasized the importance of higher education, skill development, and resilience in overcoming challenges.
“Education is the key to unlocking potential, even in the most challenging circumstances. These students embody courage, and it was humbling to guide them toward brighter futures,” shared Dr. Somba.
Our partnership with Windle Trust International Kenya underscores a shared commitment to educational equity. The clinics provided a platform for students to explore diverse career paths, access university admission insights, and connect with role models. Kabarak University’s involvement reaffirmed our dedication to bridging gaps in access to education, particularly for refugee communities.
