Kenya's innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem is being shaped within its institutions of higher learning, with Kabarak University emerging as a key transformative hub. Recently, the university underwent a peer-led evaluation led by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), utilizing the Entrepreneurial Institution Maturity Framework (EIMF) to assess its readiness and identify strategies to enhance its institutional effectiveness and entrepreneurial capacity.
Kabarak University took the lead in facilitating this evaluation, offering expert peer guidance and technical support to critically assess its performance across key areas, including leadership, governance, human capital, infrastructure, and the policy environment.

This evaluation was conducted in close collaboration with Institutional Working Groups (IWGs) through a structured, inclusive, and evidence-based approach. The goal of this exercise was to strengthen institutional operations, improve quality assurance systems, and promote continuous improvement across both academic and administrative functions.
During the visit, the university’s leadership reaffirmed their commitment to fostering innovation and empowering students and researchers to translate ideas into real-world impact.
This engagement underscores Kabarak University’s ongoing efforts to build partnerships that bridge academia, industry, and policy, contributing to Kenya’s transition toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
