Confucius Institute at Kabarak University Welcomes Inaugural Class

Kabarak University has embarked on a new academic venture with the launch of its Confucius Institute. The first cohort of students focused on Chinese language, culture, and agricultural development, was welcomed to the program. This significant milestone follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Kabarak University and Nanjing Agricultural University, strengthening their partnership in agricultural innovation and cultural exchange.

The inaugural event, hosted at Kabarak University's Nakuru City Campus, was graced by Prof. Liu Yutao, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Egerton University (CIEU). Prof. Liu was warmly received by Dr. Maina Waiganjo, the Director of Kabarak University City Campus, who emphasized the importance of this partnership for both universities and the wider community.

Students expressed their excitement about learning the Chinese language and immersing themselves in the rich Chinese culture. With a strong emphasis on agriculture, this collaboration offers not only cultural and linguistic growth but also opportunities for students to contribute to global agricultural advancements.

As classes commence today at both the main and city campuses, this initiative marks a significant step forward in academic exchange and economic cooperation between Kenya and China.
