Kabarak University is delighted to announce its performance in the 2024 Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings, a reflection of our dedication to excellence, innovation, and holistic education rooted in Biblical values. The 2024 rankings brought increased competition, with 15 universities included compared to seven in 2023. Despite this, Kabarak University demonstrated remarkable resilience, ranking 7th nationally and 54th continentally. Notably, our overall score improved to 55.2, up from 52.3 in 2023, affirming our progress in delivering quality education and impactful programs.
Our performance this year is marked by significant achievements across key metrics. In Resources and Finance, we recorded an impressive score of 67.4, showcasing enhanced resource allocation and institutional growth. Student Engagement also saw an improvement, with a range of 58.3–64.1 which highlights the university’s efforts to foster a vibrant and participatory student community. Additionally, our Africa Impact score rose significantly, reflecting our growing influence in the region. A new metric, Ethical Leadership, was introduced this year, and Kabarak University excelled in this category, underscoring our commitment to governance and integrity. With over 9,500 students now enrolled—a growth of nearly 1,000 from last year—our institution continues to attract learners who value academic excellence and personal development.
This year’s rankings saw the introduction of eight new universities, adding fresh competition to the landscape. Among the notable new entrants were Strathmore University, Mount Kenya University, and United States International University – Africa. Other entrants such as Karatina University, Murang’a University of Technology, and Riara University have also brought new energy to the rankings, highlighting the dynamism of Kenya’s higher education sector.
While we experienced shifts in our national and continental rankings, the upward trend in overall scores and key metrics signals the strength of our commitment to continuous improvement. As Proverbs 16:3 reminds us, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” At Kabarak University, we see these results as an opportunity to celebrate progress and focus on areas for further growth, ensuring that we remain a beacon of excellence in the years to come.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our faculty, staff, students, and partners, whose collective efforts have made these achievements possible. Together, we are shaping the future of education and innovation, not only in Kenya but across Africa and beyond. As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to being a “Center of Academic Excellence founded on Biblical Christian values” and look forward to achieving even greater heights in the years ahead.
