The qualification places Kabarak Law School among an elite group of law schools from around the world that have demonstrated excellence in legal research, written advocacy, and human rights scholarship.
Notably, Kabarak University is one of only four Kenyan universities to qualify for the advanced rounds of the competition. The other Kenyan institutions that earned a place among the world's top teams are Kenyatta University, Riara University, and Strathmore University. This achievement underscores the growing strength of Kenyan legal education and advocacy training on the international stage.
The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is one of the world's leading academic competitions in international human rights law. Organized by the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria in partnership with global human rights institutions, the competition brings together law students from diverse jurisdictions to argue complex human rights issues before panels of distinguished judges, academics, and legal practitioners.
Qualification for the advanced rounds follows a rigorous assessment of written memorials submitted by participating institutions from across the globe. Advancing teams are selected based on the quality of their legal analysis, argumentation, research, and understanding of international human rights principles.
The University's moot court program has consistently provided students with opportunities to sharpen their advocacy skills while competing alongside some of the world's best law schools. The journey now moves to Geneva, Switzerland, where the advanced rounds will be held. As one of the world's foremost centres for international diplomacy, humanitarian affairs, and human rights advocacy, Geneva provides an ideal setting for the next phase of this prestigious competition.
The entire Kabarak University community congratulates the team on this outstanding accomplishment and wishes them every success as they prepare to represent the University, Kenya, and the region on the global stage in Geneva.
We look forward to following their journey and celebrating their continued success in one of the world's most respected human rights law competitions.
