Dr. Kagia — Visionary Educator & Pharmacist

"Pharmacy is broad. Think beyond. Don’t limit yourself."

Biography & Journey to Academia

Dr. Kagia’s path to academia began long before he earned his formal qualifications. After high school, he spent two years teaching in schools that lacked sufficient instructors. This experience helped him realize that teaching was more than just a job—it was a calling.

From teaching computer packages to pursuing a Diploma in IT, Dr. Kagia’s academic journey merged science, service, and self-development. Even during his internship as a pharmacist, he continued teaching, blending practical experience with academic commitment.

His government posting to Wajir, far from home and newly married, led him to reconsider his future. He chose to return to the classroom, first at Mount Kenya University, and later at Kabarak University.

From Medicine to Pharmacy by Chance—And Then by Choice

Dr. Kagia initially wanted to pursue medicine, but pharmacy became his second choice when it was suggested to him. He quickly found his passion in the field, especially when he discovered the presence of chemistry, his favorite subject. His decision to stay in pharmacy was one of the best he made, as it opened doors to teach and innovate.

Teaching: A Spiritual Gift and a Strategic Impact

For Dr. Kagia, teaching is a calling—a gift that comes with the responsibility to shape the future. With over a decade of experience, he has mentored over 700 students, including those in Diploma and Undergraduate Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, and advanced coursework in bioinformatics and health tech. His proudest moments come when students exceed the curriculum and create transformative projects.
