Kabarak university in collaboration with Kenya national library, Nakuru, and yes you can, had a digital literacy training day targeting library staff, volunteers, Digital literacy pupil champions, and teachers from selected schools. This was to impact the community greatly and reach out to teachers and children from various schools. The event was held on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at the Kenya National Library, Nakuru
The team targeted six schools and each school nominated 10 pupils and 2 teachers (Headteacher & Teacher) to attend the event.
The team conducted training in six areas (Online safety; Emerging technologies; Tech careers; life skills; peer-to-peer learning and psychosocial support. The event happened as a result of an innovation award grant won by Kenya National Library in partnership with Kabarak University awarded by EIFL, Public library, Innovation program.
The activity was facilitated by Dr.Moses Thiga (Director of Research, Innovation, and Outreach), Ms. Faith Yator (Coordinator of Outreach and Linkages ), Ms. Laura Limo ( Lecturer, School of SET), and student volunteers from the department of computing.
