Kabarak University Ignites Innovation with Data Challenge Launch

Kabarak University kicked off the Data Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge 2024 today, igniting a spark of creativity and problem-solving. The event held at KLAW 5, welcomed a global audience eager to explore the exciting world of data-driven solutions.

The launch ceremony buzzed with energy as attendees, including the University Management Board (UMB), dedicated Data Science and Innovation teams, Kabarak University staff, students, and Kabarak TVET students, gathered to witness the unveiling of the challenge details.

The morning started with insightful discussions on the Innovation Mindset and Entrepreneurial Thinking. Renowned industry leaders like Ms. Magdalene Chepkemoi (CEO, Eldohub) and Mr. Joram Mwinamo (CEO, SNDBX Ltd) shared their expertise, inspiring attendees to embrace a creative and opportunity-driven approach.

The Opening Plenary that followed delved deeper into the concept of The Entrepreneurial University. Distinguished guests like Professor John Ochola, DVC Academic and Research, and Dr. Tonny K. Omwansa, CEO, Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), explored the crucial role universities play in fostering innovation and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within students.

The afternoon session focused on the Ecosystem for Data Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Representatives from tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and IBM shared their valuable insights on the resources and support available for data-driven ventures.

The day culminated in a Data Entrepreneurs Fireside Chat. Seasoned entrepreneurs like Ms. Ali Buckland (Co-Founder, Skiza Education) and Mr. Dan Njiriri (Founder Director & CEO, Lish AI Labs) offered invaluable advice and real-world experiences, igniting a passion for data-driven business solutions among the audience.
