Reaching Out and Empowering Girls: Kabarak University at the Safaricom Foundation Dissemination Forum

The Outreach team from the Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Outreach (DRIO) is attending the Safaricom Foundation Dissemination Forum at the Midland Hotel in Nakuru.

We're proud to showcase our ongoing "Support a Needy Girl Go to School" program, which has been supporting vulnerable and underprivileged girls in our neighboring communities since 2020. This program, run through the Capacity Building and Mentorship initiative, provides essential supplies like sanitary pads and capacity-building workshops on critical topics like:

  • Substance abuse prevention
  • Leadership skills development
  • Mental health awareness
  • Menstrual health education

The program's success is a testament to Kabarak University's commitment to serving the community. Under the leadership of Outreach and Linkages Coordinator Faith Yator, the program has secured grants from Safaricom Foundation to empower these girls.

We are grateful for the unwavering support of the Kabarak University Vice-Chancellor in our outreach endeavors.

While the program has positively impacted many girls, our goal is to reach even more. We are making significant progress in partnership with other organizations and dedicated Kabarak University staff. Today's dissemination forum with Safaricom Foundation presents an exciting opportunity to forge new partnerships and further empower girls in our community.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, Kabarak University reiterates its commitment to supporting women's potential through impactful capacity building and mentorship programs. This year's theme, "Invest in Women to Accelerate Progress," perfectly aligns with our vision, which we strive to achieve through our dedicated outreach initiatives.
