Kabarak University Partners in ACCESS 2.0 to Enhance Career and Skills Development

Kabarak University is proud to announce its participation in the Africa Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS 2.0) project for the 2025-2029 period. This initiative, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), is aimed at enhancing career readiness, entrepreneurship, and service-learning among students across multiple institutions in Africa. As part of this groundbreaking project, Mount Kenya University (MKU) has been designated as the lead local institution, coordinating efforts among 10 participating universities. Kabarak University, represented by Dr. Faith Yator, is actively involved in implementing various joint activities designed to benefit both students and faculty.

Key funded activities under ACCESS 2.0 include the development of a joint entrepreneurship curriculum that incorporates capstone assignments and self-paced learning. This curriculum will be integrated into Virtual Learning Management Systems (VLMS) for accessible digital education, alongside an AI-powered monitoring tool to track and enhance student engagement. Additionally, the initiative aims to enhance MBA service-learning modules through the development of research methodology and unit specialization service-learning (SL) modules, with active participation from university experts in curriculum development. Another major component of the project is the establishment of Student ACCESS Business Ideas Clubs, where top-performing student business ideas from each university will be selected annually for participation in a five-day bootcamp, accompanied by faculty mentors.

Through these initiatives, Kabarak University aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and employability for its students. Additionally, the ACCESS 2.0 project has opened applications for five PhD positions in 2025, offering faculty and students a valuable opportunity for advanced research and academic growth. For more details on the ACCESS 2.0 initiative and application guidelines, visit the ACCESS Centre website at [https://access-centre.org/en/] and the Mount Kenya University ACCESS Project page.  We look forward to the impact that ACCESS 2.0 will bring to our university community and beyond.
