Kabarak University, through the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET), successfully hosted the Coffee & Code Tour: AI Safari Edition on Friday, 18th July 2025, at the iconic Sawia Auditorium. The event brought together technology enthusiasts, students, and faculty from across the country for a transformative experience centered on artificial intelligence and innovation.
The one-day tour was officially opened by Prof. Peter Rugiri, Dean of the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, who emphasized the role of academia in shaping Africa's digital future. His remarks set the tone for a day filled with innovation, collaboration, and learning.
The Coffee & Code Tour is part of a broader initiative by the Power Learn Project (PLP) under the banner of #1MillionDevs4Africa, aiming to empower one million software developers across the continent. The Kabarak edition attracted vibrant participation from host students and faculty, as well as attendees from other universities, including Moi University, Laikipia University, Mount Kenya University, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), Machakos University, Karatina University, and Maasai Mara University.
The highlight of the event was a compelling keynote session by Martin Ndlovu on “How to Make Money Selling AI Automations with n8n”. Participants gained practical insights into leveraging AI tools to solve real-world challenges and create income-generating solutions. The program also featured networking sessions, live feedback activities, interactive booths, and engaging photo experiences.
Speaking during the closing session, representatives from PLP and participating universities expressed their appreciation for the hospitality and excellence that define Kabarak University. The day concluded with a lively photo session and networking interactions that left participants inspired and ready to take on new tech frontiers.
