The transformative journey into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has officially begun at Kabarak University, with the successful launch of the Generative AI Bootcamp on Saturday, 10th May 2025. The first session marked a promising start to what is set to be a series of immersive and insightful engagements designed to unpack the complexities of AI and its rapidly evolving applications.
Held in a hybrid format to promote both inclusivity and flexibility, the session attracted over 60 participants—including students, faculty members, and industry experts—who joined either physically at Kabarak University or virtually via Zoom. This dynamic approach reflects the University’s commitment to creating accessible learning opportunities that bridge academia and the tech industry.
The day kicked off with a robust introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Generative AI, providing participants with a solid foundation. Through interactive presentations and expert-led discussions, attendees traced the historical development of AI, delved into its core principles, and explored its key subfields.
A focal point of the session was clarifying the distinction between Machine Learning and traditional programming, emphasizing how data-driven learning models are reshaping decision-making processes across sectors. The session also broke down the differences between supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, making these advanced concepts accessible to learners at all levels.
The session culminated in an engaging discussion on Generative AI, with insights into how Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Large Language Models (LLMs) operate. Participants gained a clearer understanding of how these technologies are driving innovations in fields such as content creation, simulation, and automated problem-solving.
As the bootcamp series continues, Kabarak University remains committed to equipping its community with forward-looking digital skills that align with global technological trends. The next sessions promise even deeper dives into practical AI applications and ethical considerations, reinforcing the University’s vision as a center of academic excellence founded on Biblical Christian values.
