Kabarak University Shines at ACPK 2024 Celebrating Innovation and Excellence in ICT

The ACPK 2024 Conference, which began on November 25th and runs through November 28th at Sarova Woodlands, Nakuru, has brought together ICT professionals, academics, and industry leaders for a transformative event focused on advancements in cybersecurity, remote work technologies, cloud innovation, and sustainable ICT practices. As the conference continues to unfold, Kabarak University has already made a strong impression, with two remarkable students from the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) presenting innovative projects that have captivated attendees. Mavin Kipkorir Ng’etich introduced a pioneering Sound Recognition Project, showcasing practical applications of auditory data for accessibility and automation, while Olives Matei presented an Automatic Noise Cancellation Project, which has received special recognition for its creativity and technological impact. The success of these projects, guided by the dedicated mentorship of Prof. Simon Karume and the valuable support of Dr. Andrew Kipkebut and Mr. Simon Ruoro, reflects our unwavering dedication to nurturing innovative minds and equipping students with the skills to lead in technological breakthroughs.

The ongoing conference offers a blend of hands-on workshops, inspiring keynote speeches, engaging panel discussions, and vibrant exhibitions. Among the highlights so far are sessions on cybersecurity for remote work, led by experts from Fortinet, exploring Zero Trust Architecture and effective threat response strategies, as well as insights into leveraging cloud technologies for the gig economy, focusing on scalable remote work solutions using platforms like AWS and Google Cloud. Yesterday’s ICT Student Project Innovations session placed Kabarak University’s talent in the spotlight, alongside other academic showcases, reinforcing the critical role of youth-driven innovation in shaping the future of ICT.

As ACPK 2024 progresses, the conference continues to bridge academia and industry, with impactful discussions such as today’s panels on sustainable ICT solutions and tomorrow’s focus on future trends and innovations. These sessions emphasize the importance of collaboration in driving digital transformation and preparing for the next wave of technological evolution. Kabarak University's prominent presence at the conference reflects its mission to excel in academic and technological advancement, providing its students and faculty with opportunities to address real-world challenges and lead the global ICT ecosystem.
