Kabarak University Faculty Participate in Curriculum Review Workshop at Microsoft Garage ADC

On 8th September 2025, ten faculty members from the School of Computer Science and Information Technology at Kabarak University participated in a Curriculum Review Workshop held at the Microsoft Garage ADC. The team was led by Dr. Laura Cheptegei and Mercy Gachoka, and the session was facilitated by Irene Githinji, Head of Ecosystem at Microsoft, together with 12 engineers from Microsoft ADC.

The workshop focused on reviewing and strengthening the curriculum for the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Software Engineering (new program)

Through a highly interactive format, the workshop provided a collaborative, industry-aligned platform where faculty engaged in in-depth discussions on how best to:

  • Benchmark programs against current global and regional technology trends.
  • Integrate emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Data Science.
  • Align teaching approaches with industry practices and innovation ecosystems.
  • Ensure that Kabarak University graduates remain competitive, relevant, and future-ready in the fast-changing digital economy.

Faculty members worked directly with Microsoft engineers to analyze real-world use cases, identify skill gaps, and co-create strategies that blend academic rigor with practical, hands-on industry applications. The session also underscored the critical role of partnerships between academia and industry in preparing the next generation of technology leaders.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in Kabarak University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. By engaging with global technology leaders, the University continues to strengthen its mission of producing graduates who not only meet but also shape the needs of industry and society.

Kabarak University extends its sincere appreciation to Microsoft ADC for hosting and facilitating the workshop and looks forward to sustained collaboration that will open new opportunities for students, faculty, and the wider technology community.
