During the Wednesday Chapel Service held on 28 October 2026, the Kabarak University community was encouraged to face life’s uncertainties with faith, Godly wisdom, and living by Christian values
The service centred on the theme “Resilient Living in Uncertain Times,” with Rev. Laban Kittony delivering a sermon drawn from Proverbs 3:1-10. He challenged students and staff to recognise that resilience does not mean living without challenges, but remaining faithful, hopeful and grounded in God even when the future is uncertain.
Drawing from the biblical passage, Rev. Kittony outlined three principles for navigating uncertain times: trusting God wholeheartedly, treasuring His wisdom above worldly success, and honouring Him with one’s resources. He emphasised that while human understanding has its limitations, trusting in God provides a firm foundation for making sound decisions and remaining steadfast through difficult circumstances.
Reflecting on Proverbs 3:5-6, the preacher encouraged the congregation not to rely solely on their own understanding, but to acknowledge God in their decisions and allow His guidance to shape their lives. He urged students and staff to turn anxiety into prayer, practise gratitude in all circumstances and surrender their plans to God, particularly when situations do not unfold as expected.
The sermon further emphasised the importance of seeking wisdom and maintaining integrity in a world marked by uncertainty and competing pressures. Rev. Kittony reminded the congregation that fear, disappointment and difficult circumstances should not become reasons to compromise personal values. Instead, he encouraged them to walk in reverence for God, make wise choices, and remain committed to what is right, even when the path ahead is unclear.
The message challenged the university community to view resilience not merely as the ability to withstand personal difficulties, but also as the willingness to remain a source of hope and encouragement to those facing their own struggles. By combining faith with responsible decisions and acts of service, individuals can make a positive difference in their families, workplaces and wider communities.
The service concluded with a benediction by Kabarak University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, bringing the gathering to a close in keeping with the sermon’s emphasis on trusting God through life’s uncertainties. The benediction provided a fitting conclusion to the service’s call for the university community to remain anchored in faith, seek divine wisdom, and move forward with confidence in God’s guidance.
