Last week, the serene and scenic Lake Bogoria Spa & Resort hosted a pivotal milestone for Kabarak University, the 2026 Kabarak University Student Organisation (KUSO) Leaders Induction Programme. From January 29 to 31, newly elected student leaders convened for a rigorous yet spiritually enriching training designed to equip them with the skills and mindset required to lead a diverse and vibrant student community.
A highlight of the programme was the keynote address by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, PhD, MBS, OGW. Speaking to a student body representing Kenya and ten other nations, including South Sudan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and the United States, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that leadership at Kabarak is a “call to serve from a Biblical Christian perspective.”

During an impactful session on Transformational Leadership, Prof. Kiplangat challenged KUSO leaders to rise beyond routine administration.
“As leaders, we are to be reflections of our Lord,” he noted, pointing to Jesus Christ as the ultimate model of transformational leadership.
He outlined key strengths essential to effective leadership:
- Visionary Communication — The ability to articulate and inspire new ideas clearly.
- Balance — Navigating both immediate responsibilities and long-term institutional goals.
- Emotional Intelligence — Building trust, empathy, and unity within the student community.
The three-day programme featured rich insights from experienced academic and administrative facilitators, covering all critical aspects of student governance to ensure holistic leadership development:
- Conflict Management — Prof. Ronald Chepkilot shared strategies for fostering harmony among students.
- Effective Communication — Dr. Anthony Somba emphasized the importance of clarity and intentional dialogue in leadership.
- Faith Integration — Rev. Justus Mutuku reminded leaders of the University’s Moral Code, encouraging them to honor Christ in their leadership, anchored in 1 Peter 3:15.
- Finances and Stewardship — Mr. Gideon Langat guided leaders on responsible financial management and accountability.

Beyond formal sessions, the programme cultivated team synergy and camaraderie through engaging team-building activities led by the Sports Director. Participants also enjoyed the breathtaking landscapes of the Rift Valley, culminating in a reflective visit to Lake Bogoria National Park, strengthening bonds before returning to campus to begin their term.
As the 2026 KUSO leadership takes up the mantle, University Management remains confident that this induction has laid a strong foundation for effective, faith-driven student leadership.
To our new KUSO leaders: The task ahead is great, but your preparation has been greater. Lead with heart. Lead with vision. Lead for God and Humanity.
