The Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) programme at Kabarak University is designed to contribute to Kenya's Vision 2030, which seeks to transform the country into a newly industrialized, middle-income nation. Focusing on the Economic pillar of the Vision, which emphasizes the growth of the knowledge economy, this programme equips students with advanced skills in AI and data science to harness the power of data in driving innovation across various sectors. By preparing graduates to develop AI-driven solutions that address challenges in industries such as healthcare, agriculture, finance, and governance, the programme plays a vital role in supporting Kenya’s national development goals, cultivating a highly skilled workforce capable of advancing both the public and private sectors.
Goal of the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence
The M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence will prepare the student for a career in industry and academia by imparting advanced knowledge on the principles and methodologies of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Program Learning Outcomes
After completing the M.Sc. In AI programme, the graduates will be expected to:
- Demonstrate understanding of philosophical and ethical principles underlying Artificial Intelligence.
- Demonstrate understanding of mathematical and statistical principles underlying Artificial Intelligence.
- Demonstrate practical skills in developing solutions in the key subfields in Artificial Intelligence.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current and emerging issues in Artificial Intelligence.
- Undertake independent research in Artificial Intelligence and disseminate the findings using relevant media and in appropriate forums.
Minimum admission requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT/Data Science/Mathematics Second Class (Upper);
OR
Second Class (Lower) with Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science/IT/Data Science/Mathematics; OR evidence of extensive research experience demonstrated by peer-reviewed journal publications.
