Kabarak University Hosts its 14th International Research Conference Exploring Contemporary Issues in Education

Kabarak University has officially launched its 14th International Research Conference, proudly hosted by the School of Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, the event underscores the university's commitment to addressing critical educational challenges through research and innovation. Prof. Kiplangat highlighted the transformative role of research in shaping societies, reinforcing Kabarak University's mission to foster thought leadership and develop solutions for the modern world.

This year's conference, themed “Emerging Trends in Education and Learning: Unlocking Opportunities for All,” began on October 14th and will run until October 16th, 2024, offering both in-person and virtual participation. Scholars, educators, students, and industry professionals from around the globe are engaged in meaningful discussions on contemporary educational practices, as well as the evolving landscapes of humanities and social sciences.

The conference is organized into several carefully curated strands, each tackling significant contemporary issues. From discussions on emerging trends in educational policy, curriculum design, and professional development to pressing concerns about mental health, science education, and globalization, the topics are designed to foster innovative solutions. A key session on mental health takes center stage this year, focusing on community-based approaches and addressing the global mental health crisis—a subject increasingly vital in today's interconnected world.

The conference’s keynote speaker,  Prof. G. Tongi Mugoya from The University of Alabama, is an esteemed expert in mental health and substance use research. With over 40 publications and $30 million in research funding, Prof. Mugoya’s address delves into psychosocial and cross-cultural factors shaping mental health challenges today, aligning perfectly with the conference’s mission to tackle pressing global issues.

The event serves as a collaborative platform where industry professionals, academics, and scholars share best practices and research findings. Discussions on educational administration, policy-making, and planning, as well as the latest innovations in professional development and science education, form the foundation of this conference. The goal is to create interdisciplinary dialogues that will shape the future of education.

Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of the Kabarak University Journal of Research (KJRI), continuing the tradition of disseminating impactful academic work.
