Kabarak University has set an unprecedented standard with its impressive ranking in the prestigious 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings, announced on June 26, 2023. The university has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 42nd position in Africa, the 4th position in Kenya, and the 1st position among private universities in Kenya.
This marks Kabarak University's inaugural participation in the rankings, and we take immense pride in this achievement. It is a testament to the university's unwavering dedication to providing quality education and its commitment to excellence. This recognition highlights the university's exceptional performance and places it among the top institutions in the region.
What sets this ranking apart from others is its comprehensive and hybrid methodology, which encompasses various crucial aspects of higher education, including teaching, impact, and research. The overall methodology focuses on five key pillars: Resources and Finances, Access and Fairness, Teaching Skills, Student Engagement, and Africa Impact. By considering these multiple dimensions, the rankings offer a holistic evaluation of universities in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the methodology employed for these rankings was meticulously developed through extensive consultations with university leaders from across the region. This collaborative effort involved a consortium of African and international higher education organizations in partnership with Ashesi University in Ghana. The Mastercard Foundation generously supported the development of the rankings, contributing to their credibility and relevance.
Kabarak University's inclusion and commendable position in the 2023 Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings not only recognizes our institution's achievements but also validates our ongoing efforts to provide an outstanding educational experience for our students. We are proud to have earned this recognition, and it motivates us to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of our academic endeavours.
