On November 16, 2024, students from Kabarak University’s Nakuru City Campus and KABU TVET Institute came together in a remarkable display of love, service, and unity. Motivated by a shared mission to make a difference, peer counselors, members of the Christian Union, and students affiliated with the Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF) collaborated on an initiative to bring joy and hope to the children of QK Children’s Home in Kiamunyi.
Despite the chilly weather, the group, led by the campus counselor, embarked on this noble endeavor with unwavering determination. The carefully planned day was designed to uplift the children through acts of kindness and meaningful interactions.
Upon arriving at QK Children’s Home, the students were greeted by the excited faces of the children. Inspired by the warm welcome, they quickly set about creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. The day’s program included engaging games, fun-filled songs, and heartfelt interactions, fostering a sense of connection that left a lasting impression.
While some students entertained the children, others took to the kitchen to prepare a hearty lunch. The meal, shared by the children, staff, and volunteers, became a symbol of the unity and love shared that day. After lunch, the team ensured the dining area, kitchen, and utensils were cleaned thoroughly, leaving the home spotless.
As the day drew to a close, the students presented gifts to the children, received with immense gratitude. These thoughtful gestures underscored the spirit of giving and further deepened the bond formed during the visit.
The event highlighted the inclusive nature of campus clubs, bringing together students from diverse academic programs for a common goal of service. This unity of purpose reinforces Kabarak University’s commitment to transforming lives through holistic education and meaningful outreach.
As the team departed QK Children’s Home, their hearts were full, and their resolve to participate in future outreach activities strengthened. Together, as one family—Nakuru City Campus and TVET students—they exemplified the essence of service and the fulfillment that comes from uplifting others.
"In serving others, we discover the greatest fulfillment of our purpose."
