The Kabarak University community gathered for the Wednesday Chapel Service, where Rev. Dr. Elkanah Cheboi delivered a thought-provoking sermon titled "The Goodness of God to His People," based on Psalm 73:1-28. The message challenged students and staff to remain steadfast in their faith and trust in God's goodness, even when life's circumstances appear unfair.
Drawing from the experiences of the psalmist Asaph, Rev. Dr. Cheboi explored the apparent paradox of the prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous. He noted that many believers, like Asaph, can be tempted to question God's goodness when they witness ungodly people seemingly thriving while those who seek to live righteously face trials and hardships.
The sermon highlighted the turning point in Asaph's journey when he entered the sanctuary of God and gained a renewed perspective. It was in God's presence that he understood the ultimate destiny of both the righteous and the wicked. While earthly prosperity may appear attractive, it is temporary, whereas those who remain faithful to God enjoy His guidance, presence, and the promise of eternal glory.
Rev. Dr. Cheboi urged students and staff to maintain a God-centred perspective, trusting that the Lord is always at work even when His plans are not immediately apparent. He encouraged the University community to remain faithful, knowing that God ultimately rewards those who walk with Him and that His goodness extends far beyond temporary earthly experiences.
The service concluded with remarks from Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry K. Kiplangat, who commended the message as a timely reminder for the University community. He encouraged students and members of staff to remain rooted in their faith, especially when faced with academic, personal, or professional challenges. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that a life anchored in God's Word enables believers to navigate life's uncertainties with confidence, integrity, and hope, urging the Kabarak community to continue trusting in God's goodness as they pursue excellence in their respective callings.
