On Thursday, March 7, 2024, Kabarak University's Department of Guidance and Counselling held a case conferencing event at the City Campus. This valuable initiative brought together our experienced counselors (Rev. Dr. Langat, Rev. Korir, Ms. Veronica Kombchi, and Pr. Esther Mwende) and our dedicated peer counselors.
The focus of the discussion was a critical issue affecting many university students: abusive relationships. Through open dialogue, led by Pr. Esther Kapsir, the counselors shared their expertise and explored effective techniques, skills, and approaches to address these complex situations. The peer counselors actively participated, gaining valuable insights to better support their peers facing similar challenges.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Waingajo, Director of the Nakuru City Campus. His encouraging words resonated deeply with both counselors and peer counselors. He acknowledged the often unseen yet crucial role they play in guiding students towards a brighter future, offering them hope, stability, and the assurance of a better tomorrow. He emphasized that their dedication doesn't go unnoticed, reminding them that God acknowledges their efforts.
Our gratitude extends to Ms. Veronica Kombchi, the City Campus host counselor, and the City peer counselors for their enthusiastic hospitality. We culminated the event with a shared cup of tea, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collaboration within our support network. This collaboration, supported by the University's management team, strengthens our ability to effectively address student concerns and create a more positive and supportive learning environment for all.
