Excellence on a Global Stage: Delegates Shine at the 24th Kenya Model United Nations KMUN.

The 24th Session of the Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) Conference, held from March 10th to 14th, 2025, at the United Nations Offices in Nairobi, Gigiri, brought together young leaders from various institutions to engage in dynamic debates and discussions on global affairs, policy-making, and diplomacy.

A delegation of 22 students from Kabarak University took part in the conference, demonstrating their commitment, intellect, and leadership in various sessions. The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka (10th Vice President of Kenya), Hon. Lady Justice Njoki Ndung’u (Judge of the Supreme Court), and Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura (Director-General, UNON). Their insights provided a strong foundation for the deliberations that followed.

Throughout the conference, Kabarak University students actively participated in key discussions under different committees, including:

  • General Assembly (GA) – Debating critical global issues in SOCHUM, CRISIS, WHO, and UNEP.

  • International Court of Justice (ICJ) Moot and Advisor International Law Commission (ILC) 

Key Sessions and Highlights

  • Day 1: The opening ceremony and plenary sessions set the stage for engaging debates and resolutions.

  • Day 2: Participants attended impactful speeches from event sponsors and key organizations supporting KMUN.

  • Day 3: Themed discussions on sexual and reproductive health, spearheaded by Right Here Right Now, an organization championing reproductive health awareness.

  • Day 4: Diplomacy in action, featuring speeches from ambassadors, including H.E. Sebastian Groth (Germany) and H.E. Dr. Caroline Vicini (Sweden), who provided valuable insights into international relations.

  • Day 5: A vibrant cultural showcase marked the culmination of the event, celebrating diversity and global unity.

Kabarak University delegates showcased exceptional skills, articulating their viewpoints with clarity and confidence. The conference provided an invaluable platform for them to enhance their diplomatic, negotiation, and public speaking abilities. The experience has equipped them with essential skills that will undoubtedly contribute to their academic and professional journeys.
