Kabarak University is currently buzzing with excitement as it hosts the 2024 Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Conference in partnership with Kisii University and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. The event, under the theme "Development, Deployment, and Adoption of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Solutions," was officially inaugurated today by Prof. Henry Kiplangat, the University Vice-Chancellor, at the Kabarak University auditorium.
The conference aims to create a platform for AI researchers and practitioners to share experiences, skills, and knowledge related to the development, deployment, and adoption of Data Science and AI solutions in Africa. Key objectives include facilitating networking among researchers, both seasoned and upcoming, and providing a forum for presenting research and practice papers for publication.
This year's conference, the second in the series after a successful 2023 event, features 31 undergraduate student project presentations, 9 graduate student colloquium presentations, and 29 research paper presentations. Participants from Kenya, Uganda, Benin, Mali, Finland, Germany, and Italy contribute to the global perspective.
Industry leaders IBM, Google, and Microsoft are actively participating, sharing insights into academic and research offerings for higher education. The event is made possible through collaboration with partners like Kisii University and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and sponsorship from the Artificial Intelligence Journal, Google, and Data Science Africa. The conference promises to be a catalyst for innovation and collaboration in the dynamic fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
