On Monday 26th November 2024, Kabarak University hosted a distinguished delegation from Kyambogo University, Uganda, for a productive benchmarking visit focused on the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 standards, quality assurance, and the integration of ICT in service delivery. The delegation, led by Prof. Maria Musoke, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Sis. Dr. Maria Goretti Kaahwa, Director of Quality Assurance, was warmly welcomed by Kabarak University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat. They were joined by Prof. John Ochola, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Research, Dr. Edwin Akumu, Director of the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Institutional Planning, and Dr. Titus Suge, Dean of the School of Pharmacy. During their courtesy call, Prof. Kiplangat expressed his delight at hosting the team, emphasizing the value of regional collaboration in enhancing higher education standards. He highlighted how Kabarak University’s adoption of global standards and strategic ICT integration has transformed the institution into a beacon of academic innovation and excellence.
The delegation embarked on a full-day benchmarking tour, exploring various facilities across the university. Their visit included the state-of-the-art Daniel T. Arap Moi Library, which is renowned for its modern design, advanced digital resources, and a conducive learning environment that fosters academic research and collaboration. They also toured the university’s laboratories and other learning facilities, where they were impressed by the cutting-edge equipment that reflects Kabarak’s commitment to integrating technology in education. Furthermore, the team gained insights into the university’s curriculum design and quality assurance mechanisms, which ensure academic rigor and relevance in today’s competitive global market.
Prof. Maria Musoke commended Kabarak University for its meticulous implementation of ISO standards and seamless integration of ICT to enhance service delivery. She described the visit as an eye-opener and expressed eagerness to adopt some of the innovative strategies observed at Kabarak to elevate operations at Kyambogo University.
