On Saturday, November 8th, 2025, a vibrant team of peer counselors from Nakuru City Campus and the Main Campus, alongside peer counselors from KABUTVET Institute, embarked on a meaningful community outreach activity at Amani Children’s Home, Lanet. This event, organized by the Counseling Section of the Nakuru City Campus, was driven by the spirit of community service and mindfulness of others. The peer counselors were also joined by other students and dedicated staff members who volunteered their time for this noble task.
Upon arrival, the team received a warm welcome, and bonds of friendship quickly began to develop with the children and caregivers. To ensure all planned activities were successful, the participants formed task groups. The day was filled with diverse engagements: some volunteers entertained the children, while others diligently prepared lunch. Due to excellent coordination and joyful participation, the children were successfully served lunch and ate to their satisfaction. Additionally, participants talented in hairdressing generously offered free services to the children.
The afternoon continued with a lively entertainment session and presentations involving both the team and the children. The activity was highly engaging and brought a lot of joy to the young children and their caregivers.
The community service day concluded with a gift-sharing ceremony and a word of prayer. This marked a slightly emotional moment, as it was difficult for the newfound friends, the volunteers and the children, to say goodbye. The promise of another visit helped to calm the situation. As the day closed, the participants felt profound gratitude for having made a positive impact, inspired by love and kindness. As the saying goes, 'kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give', and the visible smiles on the children's faces truly validated the day's efforts.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Vice-Chancellor and the Kabarak University Management Board for their continuous support of our community initiatives.
